1. A family of three, including a seven-month-old baby, was killed when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned after it was rammed by a speeding car at the sixth kilometre of the Duta–Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE) in KL, according to a report by The Star.
2. The accident occurred at about 12.30 midnight. The victims names are 35-year-old Fairuz Nizam Husain, his wife Nova Safitri Azhari, aged 27, and their 7-month-old daughter Nur Firuza Annisa.
3. The family had just attended a wedding in Putrajaya and were headed home to Gombak, Selangor. Due to the impact of the crash, they were thrown out of their Mitsubishi Pajero Sport vehicle.
4. According to eyewitnesses, a total of six Perodua MyVis were seen racing on DUKE before the collision took place. The Pajero in which the family was traveling was rammed from behind by one of the speeding MyVis when attempting to change to the fast lane.
5. Fairuz then lost control of his Pajero before swerving to the left lane and crashing into another MyVi. As the victims' Pajero overturned a few times, the driver of the speeding MyVi escaped uninjured while the other driver suffered a minor injury.
6. The driver died on the spot while his wife and daughter died at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital during treatment, according to reports.
7. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving. So far a female motorist, aged 35, has been arrested and police are looking for another driver. The arrested woman, who also sustained injuries, was taken into custody after she sought treatment at the KL Hospital.
8. According to statement made by Kuala Lumpur Staff Officer for Traffic Investigation and Regulation Deputy Superintendent Markandan Subramaniam to The Rakyat Post, the police are aware of the identity of the second driver involved in the crash.
9. The couple left behind two daughters - Nur Firuza Amira, aged 7, and Nur Firuza Akila, aged 3. When met at the mortuary, relatives of the family declined to comment on the incident, The Star reported.
